Halloween Treats

'The only thing we have to fear is fear itself... and spiders'

Halloween Treats!

The pumpkins are lit! Halloween is tomorrow! There are so many fab Halloween treats all over the internet but we've put together two recipes for you whether that's for a  horror film marathon or your Halloween party!


Sweet 'n' Savoury Spiders

These two bread spiders are really cute! We found this similar idea on Pinterest (http://www.womansday.com/food-recipes/food-drinks/recipes/a11906/saucy-spider-hairy-leg-sticks-recipe-123433/) The first spider is a savoury bread using a pizza dough and a hot salsa inside. The second is a cinnamon pizza dough with a mouth watering chocolate fondue inside.  



For the bread dough-

1000g of plain flour
1 1/2 tea spoons of salt
1 tea spoon of yeast
400ml of warm water
oil (for greasing)

For the sweet bread-

1/2 a tea spoon of cinnamon
1/2 a tea spoon of ginger
2 table spoons of granulated sugar
For the savoury bread-
2 table spoons parmesan cheese
2 tea spoons of mixed herbs

For the dipping sauce-

75g of dark chocolate
2 table spoons of syrup
100ml of double cream
100ml of milk

The pizza dough-

The pizza dough is the most time consuming part of making these breads. We made our own dough however ready made  pizza doughs are available.


1) Start by adding the flour, yeast and salt into the bowl and section by section pour in the warm water so that the dough is firm but slightly sticky(you may not need all of the water).
2) Mix the ingredients together so that the dough forms a ball (you may need to add more water or flour).
3)Knead the dough for around 10 minutes so that the dough holds together when stretched.
4) Add some oil into a bowl and add the ball of dough. Cover the bowl with a tea towel or cling film and place it in a warm place until the dough has roughly doubled in size.
5) Divide the dough in half. With one half, sprinkle the cinnamon and knead it in.








The spiders-

1) Starting with one of the doughs, divide the mix in half and create the head and legs. With the other half, create a large round ball for the body.
2)Lay out the body onto a greased baking tray.
3) Repeat the same above for the other dough.
4) Cook for 20 mins at 200 Degrees.
5)Leave until cool.
6) Once the bread is cool, create a hollow centre in the body and fill the savoury bread with salsa and the sweet bread with the chocolate dipping sauce (below).


Chocolate dipping sauce-

1)Add the chocolate, syrup, cream and milk and melt them together (microwave or pan).





Cute Krispie Pumpkins

These are super easy and similar ideas are all over Pinterest! These are so cute and are great party snacks!





Ingredients-

5 Mega Marshmallows
2 table spoons of butter
enough rice krispies to use up all of the marshmallow mixture
1 tea spoon of orange food colouring
green sweets or chocolate ( for the pumpkin stems)
50g of milk chocolate

1) Melt the marshmallows and butter in a sauce pan until the mixture is smooth. Add in the food colouring.
2)Bit by bit add the krispies until all of the mixture is used up and all the krispies are covered.
3)Leave the pan to cool slightly then spoon out some of the krispies and form a ball shape. Add on the stems.
4)Once the krispies are cool melt the chocolate and dip in half of the pumpkins.
